The Man who Invented the Chain Hoists

Body:

Ingenuity and necessity led Fred R. Coffing to develop and patent a chain hoist that had its beginnings in his barn workshop. When other companies were going broke during the Great Depression years of the 1930s, the Coffing Hoist Company he created thrived in Danville. Utility companies used his hoist for line work and equipment manufacturer John Deere gave it a stamp of approval for farm use.
